Say the shot.
The cameras answer.

CameraDirector is an iPhone app for directing a multi-camera set in plain words. Say it once, and every camera on the set gets the direction. Each camera answers for itself, and its answer stays with the take. It is built to work across camera makers.

  1. Describe the shot

Say the frame, the exposure, or the move.

  2. Direct the cameras

Send it to one camera or to all of them. The phone turns the direction into each camera’s own settings.

  3. Keep the record

Each camera reports what it set. The direction and the reports stay with the take. CineSpine carries them into the edit as an OpenTimelineIO timeline.

In the field

Tested on working cameras, one body at a time.

On the rig today, one direction sets the iPhone and a second camera from another maker, and one Roll starts them both. Each field record is dated. It sets the direction beside what each camera reported back. New bodies join the record as they are tested, whatever the maker.
